ROVE STEALTH 4K FAQ
ROVE Stealth 4K is REAL and TRUE 4K Dash Cam. It is equipped with 8MP ""OmniVision OS08A10"" PurCell CMOS Sensor for TRUE 3840x2160P Native 4K Resolution in FULL 16:9 Wide-Screen Aspect Ratio.
The processor of the camera is ""HiSilicon 3559 V200"" made for TRUE 4K cameras. The video quality is excellent and mind-blowing than any other camera out there.
Stealth 4K's Temperature guidelines are as follows.
Standard Operating Temperature: -10°C to +60°C Please note that we do NOT recommend to use this camera in temperature outside of this range.
Great question. The internal battery is a Li-ion rechargeable battery.
Why Internal Battery? Because it allows the PARKING MODE feature. This is a very important feature for a dash cam to have incased of hit and run, you should have that important evidence. We thought about making this camera supercapacitor, but then if we do that then the parking mode can't be implemented. So we simply rejected that, because of 90% of customers preferred to have that PARKING MODE feature.
Now just like any battery, like an iPhone or other products, they all have their self-life. After a certain cycle, their potency will be decreased slowly. We do NOT recommend anyone to repair their camera, because it will VOID the warranty and also for the safety reasons.
We recommend simply upgrade to the new camera within 2-3 years when it is no longer functional. Stealth 4K is made to last a long time and we have invested every bit of our part in being reliable and manufactured at higher standards. Just like any ROVE products, we heavily invest in making our products user friendly and made to last a long time. Hope this was helpful and answered your question.
We can make WiFi ON all the time, in fact, we even made it for our test firmware. But we quickly found out that if you keep the WiFi ON all the time, then your iPhone or Android will stay connected automatically to ROVE Stealth 4K's WiFi when you are on the road and since it does NOT broadcast internet, you will not get any notifications or internet-related alerts form your phone while you are driving.
So we removed it and made the WiFi to stay OFF by default when you restart the camera. As the majority of customers wouldn't want to stay connected to ROVE's WiFi and miss the internet while being on the road. But there is also a shortcut, to turn the WiFi ON/OFF easily, simply LONG PRESS the Emergency Lock button for 2-seconds. Hope this makes sense and reason enough to understand why we made it like this.
Please NOTE that Stealth 4K has a new APP called ""ROVEStealth4K"" The OLD ROVE APP will NOT work with Stealth 4K.

It is BEST if you place the rear camera above or below the number plate outside so you can get the clear videos. If you place inside you will get a limited view and you defrost lines will be in the way etc. However, you can do it if you want. You can try to see if you want to stick it on the windshield or screw it on the roof, or you can also just buy suction cup magnetic mount like one of our customers which seems like the more ideal choice.
You can get the magnetic mount like this here. https://www.escortradar.com/collections/radar-mounts/products/ez_mag_mount Hope this was helpful.
If the password is not working, then you can do two things.
1. Please check the current WiFi password of your camera by checking the camera's LCD. The WiFi password is shown on the LCD when you turn on the WiFi. It will be shown after PWA2: ********
2. If the password has been changed, then please go to system settings and set the camera to default settings, which will make the WiFi password back to 88889999. After you do this, you will need to make the ROVE WiFi forget on your smartphone and then start all over again. Otherwise, you will not be able to connect the WiFi.
The Serial Number is located at the bottom part of the camera or at the actual box where it came from.
ROVE Stealth 4K has a built-in microphone to record audio with video. You can choose to record either MUTE/UNMUTE video by going to the camera Video Settings > Record Audio > Choose ON/OFF.
SHORTCUT: You can also press the UP button to MUTE/UNMUTE while the video is being recorded.
This is a great question and very vast. We kept H.264 as default because NOT all customers have correct new devices to play H.265 advanced codec encoding. So video might not play smoothly if you don't have the right hardware for it.
Video visual quality is better with H265 vs. H64. So it is the consumer's choice to see which one they want to use. Also, the file size does matter if you will need to download and share that video with anyone. So this is also something to consider. Hope this was helpful and answered your question.
Make sure your Stealth 4K is fully charged. Usually, if you drive daily for about an hour, it will keep a full charge. The internal battery is meant to last 3-5 min when fully charged at 4K resolution.
- Now parking mode works based on the internal battery. So if the battery is NOT charged and if parking mode triggers then the camera will NOT record any video, because there is NO charge left in the camera. Having said this, most people drive about 30-min each way to their work so roughly 1-hours daily to keep the internal battery charged at all times, so when the time comes to parking mode trigger, it will record that 1-min video successfully. Hope this makes sense.
- You will need to set the G-sensor sensitivity to the correct number. Make sure your parking mode is not being triggered every time you slam your car's door, otherwise you will get this message every time and you will need to cancel manually for the camera to start recording. So you will need to test this. Try setting G-sensor to 3, and then close your car door normally like you do every day. If the camera triggers parking mode when you do, then go back and set G-sensor to 4, now test again to see if closing the door will trigger parking mode. You would want to keep increasing the G-sensor sensitivity by one digit until the parking mode doesn't trigger when you shut your car's door. Now that's the correct setting for your car for G-sensitivity. So now you are set to go with G-sensor. Hopefully, if someone hits your car when backing up or any other way, the G-sensor must reach to that set level for parking mode to get triggered. Now if you see the parking mode trigger message, then you should see the last video to see what happened. So setting G-sensor to as low number as possible until it doesn't get triggered falsely when you shut the car's door is the goal here.
ROVE Steath 4K has an internal battery which is very small and is only meant to last 3-5 minutes only when it is fully charged. It is NOT meant to last more than 3-5 minutes on purpose. NO matter which brand of dash cam you will buy, their internal battery will be no different. Why is the internal battery is NOT meant to last more than 3-5 min in-dash cameras? All the dash cameras are designed this way due to fire safety. If we place a larger battery into the camera such as our smartphones, then during the summer days the temperature inside the car can exceed the limit which can cause the battery to explode and can cause a fire. Therefore due to the fire safety, we can't place larger batteries in the dash cameras.
Why do some dash cameras have an internal battery? - The internal battery is only there to support a few small functions such as to provide enough power to save the last video file when the power gets disconnected. - PARKING MODE: Parking mode lets you record 1-min video on an internal battery, if someone hits your car when you are not in your car, then if the impact triggers parking mode, then the camera will turn ON and start recording for 1-min on an internal battery, then it will SAVE & LOCK that video, then the cameras turns itself OFF automatically. (Remember, Parking Mode lets you record a 1-min video every time, and your internal battery can provide power up to 5-minutes when fully charged. So, up to 5-cycles of parking modes, however, let's hope that no one will hit your car more than once in a day... 😀)
Another thing to keep in mind that the higher the resolution you choose the more power it will consume hence it will last a short amount of time. The same way if you choose the lower resolution, such as 1080P @ 30fps, then the camera should last about 4-5 min when fully charged (Most likely longer than 5-minutes, as some customers have reported up to 8 or 9 minutes) Therefore the dash camera should always be plugged into the power all the time for its operation.
If your memory card becomes FULL and the camera STOPS recording then that means you may have set the Loop Cycle recording to OFF. This is an easy fix. All you have to do is format the memory card by going into the camera’s system settings & then make sure to set your loop cycle recording feature to either 1, 3, 5,10 or 20-min. Which means the loop cycle is ON.
Please also make sure to backup important videos before formatting your memory card.
WHAT IS LOOP CYCLE FEATURE AND HOW DOES IT WORK? This feature allows for your camera to delete the oldest video files first automatically so the newest video files can be written over and over again automatically in a seamless loop way without you needing to delete the videos manually.
LOOP CYCLE is OFF - When you set this option, the camera will record one big file continuously until the camera turns OFF. - And the camera will continue to record videos until your memory card becomes full. When the memory card becomes full, the camera will give you a message ""CARD FULL"" and it will STOP recording further until you either delete the videos or format the card manually to make more room for the new videos again.
Therefore, if you don't want this to happen then, 1, 3, 5,10 or 20-min = LOOP CYCLE is ON - Set the LOOP Cycle function to either 1, 3, 5,10 or 20-min so the camera can delete the oldest files automatically so it can write new videos over and over again without you needing to delete the videos manually. - Your video files will be split into the selected video length accordingly. (i.e. If you set the loop cycle to 1-min, then all your video files will be 1-min each)
A polarizer filter is required to remove glares from videos.
You can purchase a CPL (Circular Polarizing Filter), and apply in front of the lens to get rid of the reflection from the dashboard. We don't have exact size CPL for ROVE Stealth 4K, however, if you can be little handy, you can use this one. Many of our customers have used this and they love it.
A polarizer filter is required to remove glares from videos.
Due to the lens and GPS, camera's mount will NOT work properly for an almost flat windshield (verticle). It needs at least a 20° slope/angle for it to mount properly.
Few of our customers have made a custom mount for their RV/truck with an almost flat windshield. If you are handy, then you can make this by yourself easily.
Unfortunately, NO. You need to purchase the hardwire kit separately.
You can purchase any hardwire kit that has the battery voltage meter protection and a MINI-USB connection.
We recommend this one for our camera. Many of our customers have used them successfully. Here's the link to what we recommend. http://a.co/d/bFfeTsf
